Red Skies New Commonwealth

Description

I really, really meant to do the CRRF. But the New Commonwealth... just so... easy.

So, what is the New Commonwealth? In the 2020's, with the US flagging and NATO, in turn, weakening, the Commonwealth rose to occasion, hoping that the sheer size of the alliance would be enough to compensate for it having no single large core military holding it together. This was made easier by its wealth, with the booming Indian economy being a link pin. It differentiates itself from the "Old Commonwealth" with the British royal family no longer having any real or ceremonial power over the organization. Instead a Governor General is elected from one of the member states to act as a leader on 5 year terms.

New Commonwealth aircraft are often competent multi-role machines. While they can often struggle to field enough aircraft, the few they have can swing roles far more easily than their counterparts.

The CF-205 is Avro Canada's premier interceptor. The first jet to use the ZP system, she's fast, reliable, hits hard, is electronically competent and can launch from carriers. The CF-205 doesn't do anything exceptionally well either, but a multi-role interceptor is a unique and powerful weapon.

The Dhiel Aerospace Warspite is one of the most maneuverable multi role aircraft around. Without a load of anti-shipping missiles or bombs, she can dance with the best enemy aircraft. This makes her multi-role, not swing wing, she can only do one job in a single sortie, but unlike her New Commonwealth counterparts, she does both roles exceptionally well.

Bengaluru Aerospace's Anokha is the closest thing the New Commonwealth has to an attack plane or a light/medium bomber. While having more in common with a gen 4.5 plane than a full 6th gen fighter, it is simple, cheap, can carry a large payload and fly stably at low altitude. And really, is all of that technical complexity worth more than a aerodynamically sound air frame?
