Random Unus Solum info of the day, the term for a soldier is Campaignman. A reference to the time when Arcea would deploy soldiers for a single campaign before they would return to normal life, a rejection of the marshal societies of pre-industrial Unus Solum. In regions affected by the Second Empire, this term in large part caught on as a way of referring to rifle armed infantry and differentiating between melee infantry.

Rifle armed infantry is further differentiated. In continental militaires and increasingly island armies as well, Linesman compose the majority of infantry units. They are supported by Sappers who deal with armour/cavalry, Linebreakers that deal with fortifications, Sharpshots who attempt to assassinate enemy officers at long ranges, Dragoons who scout and screen movements and many others depending on the nationality. 

Karelia and Daomey are a rarity on Unus Solum. While most factions are still reluctant to have woman anywhere near the front lines, much less actual train and arm them, Karelia and Daomey are largely reversed for their cultural and religious reasons respectively.
