Intrepid Intentions

Here it is. First time I've pulled out my trusty 6b pencil in months. Now that schools over though... I think we're going to start getting re-acquainted

So, to fix the problem I had with the Corinth timeline, I decided to bring Intrepid 700 years into the past so that the events of Corinth were more relevant in Intrepid. This means Intrepid takes place 200 years after Corinth.

To make the new setting more firmly planted in my head, I decided to make a few concept sketches for the story (which you shall never see). I amalgamated the ideas here, in this awesome piece inspired by some Battlestar Galactica art.

The Intrepid is the second of the three Domonik Class Air Fortress's, Air Fortress' being the floating equivalents of Battleships. They rely on the Faraday System (essentially, the ship floats on a planets magnetism) to float, while a more conventional system propels them. The Domonik Class is the first military airship to employ air fuel engines while all previous airships have relied on fans or corkscrews. This huge speed advantage, along with her unmatched firepower and armour make her a force to be reckoned with. Add in Captain Devran Von Lark (the guy on the top right), the best Captain in the Arcean Empire, and you have a fearsome weapon.

The Arcean Empire had planned on using this ship to reclaim its territory lost over the past 200 years, which had broken off into the nations of Corinth, Nordvest, North Ghurkka, South Arcea and Enshaw. The attack on the small nation of South Arcea starting with a surprise attack on the border town of Falsueg, usually a site of peace talks between the two nations. Unfortunately for them, Acard (only people of royal lineage have last names in the Arcean Empire), a peasant woman who had risen to the rank of senior officer and 3rd in command of the Intrepid, rebelled along with other republican (people who oppose the monarchy, not the political party in the slightest) conspirators on the ship and managed to take command of the Air Fortress before she could join her squadron and attack.

Now one of the most powerful weapons in the world is rogue and on the run with a rebel crew at the helm. And for all of her political genius, Acard doesn't have nearly as much skill or experience when it comes to air combat, especially compared to Devran, who is still on the ship, with many loyalist in the crew preparing for his return to command...
