Corinth Post-Intrepid Flags

Arcea, is the oldest nation on Unus Solum. They appear to be the first people to introduce written script, civilization and the recording of history, which they began doing some 1800 years before the Tranfa arrived. There technology comes from the crater, a place which it is believed an ancient, highly advanced, civilization once founded a city, that for some reason, was totally destroyed. Arcea has done there best to mold themselves in the fashion of these ancients, but after nearly 1700 years of excavation and research, it appears that there may be nothing new to find...

Arcea, 70 years ago had a democratic revolution. Since then, they have dropped the "Empire of" from there name.

The United Hoffnung Republics, once the Hoffnung Empire, are a powerful, militarily advanced nation that dominate the south of the super continent. They met the Arceans some 1500 years ago, and had an approximately 100 year long war (there were several breaks in the fighting) known as the Contact Wars. Eventually, they agreed to accept each other and have since been powerful allies.

Founded on the ideas of freedom, personal responsibility and democracy, the country has since become increasingly Libertarian/Objectivist and greedy over all. While this has worked arguably well in the south around Maldrecoy and Holstinij, this has caused a dangerous separatist movement in the north by farmers living in communes along the Ascension Mountains.

The Kingdom of Corinth lies to the North of Arcea, and represents the western half of what was once known as the Northern City States in the Arcean Empire. They gained there independence from Arcea, along with South Arcea and Enshaw 300 years ago in the Tri-State revolution headed by Corinthian Libero Populous. While the country is a kingdom, they have perhaps the best human rights record on the planet, and is the only country on the world where people are truly held equally regardless of race or gender (albeit most countries have gotten better on that in the last 100 years).

Once enemies with the Hoffnung and Arceans, a common enemy in the Shirduo pulled them together 190 years ago. Since then, they have increasingly integrated culturally and economically.

Unlike the Arceans, Corinth does not boast much of a professional army, having only 5000 full time soldiers. They instead rely on militias based in colleges and universities around the state for defense.

The Holy Nordvest Empire is a religious state to the east of Corinth. 250 years ago, they were part of the Kingdom, but many of the powerful families in the east became angry at the government in the west for accepting Arceans back into the crater, and increasing secularization because of Arcea's influence in the west. After a bloody civil war, Corinth accepted Nordvest as an independent nation, even though Nordvest had been hoping to conquer Corinta the capital. Nordvest promises one day to eliminate Corinth from the face of Unus Solum.

The Shirudo are a religious island state just off the coast of Nordvest. Almost 1000 years ago, they dominated the entire area now known as Nordvest, as well as much of the Ghurkka desert, but they were pushed back over the course of 3 consecutive wars by the Arcean Empire and the United Hoffnung Republics. After a devastating defeat in the 4th war 70 years ago, they have vowed revenge against the continental powers.

The Shirduo are extremely militaristic, xenophobic and generally believe that there culture is superior. So much to the point that they rejected Arcean inventions like electricity, gunpowder and the Faraday system until only recently. And even though they have now accepted these things in the name of hopefully defeating Arcea in the future, they still wear there armor from the times of sword and shield into battle.

Enshaw is another island nation, and the furthest large landmass from the supercontinent. Once a peaceful group of independent tribes, governing there own parts of the island, they would sometimes coming together to fight off Shirudo war lords who became a bit too confident. They were forced to amalgamate permanently when the Hoffnung and Arceans arrived 300 years ago. After 50 years of Guerrilla Warfare against the continental powers, they joined forces with South Arcea and Corinth, and managed to finally push them off the Island. Since then, Enshaw has maintained a particularly good relationship with the two nations. When Arcea had it's democratic revolution around 70 years ago, Enshaw was one of the biggest supporters of the revolutionaries, and has since then maintained a extremely good relationship with Arcea. Strangely though, they are always at odds with the Hoffnung, even to this day.

South Arcea is a former Province of the Arcean Empire. Made of pilgrims trying to escape persecution in both the Gurkka desert and the Ascension Mountains, they peacefully assembled into city states and farmed for almost 1000 years. During the Contact Wars, the Arceans took the area so that they could flank the Hoffnung. After the Contact Wars ended, the Arcean's never left, and they oppressed the people severely to keep them under control.

During the tri-state revolution, South Arcea was freed, but entered a state of total anarchy for almost 200 years with no official government after that. A century ago, the current royal family rose to power, and managed to bring peace.

With the violent history still in the populations minds, South Arcea has molded itself into a peaceful nation, never wanting to fight a war again. They opened up there northern most town, Falsueg, to be a neutral city where diplomatic talks can take place, while also providing peace keepers to deal with environmental and diplomatic crisis' around Unus Solum. But there startlingly quick increase in military technology over the past decade has eyes of concern being cast there way...

North Gurkkha was once part of Corinth, but peacefully left shortly after the tri-state revolution. Despite this falling out, the two tend to get along quite well. North Gurkkha deems itself the official government of the entire Gurkkha region, a claim that Arcea, Scarabeen and Mayayore deny. And unlike Scarabeen and Mayayore or any of the nomadic tribes that roam the East Gurkkha deserts, they haven't taken any military steps to secure it. In Falsueg, both Mayayore and North Gurkkha are considered owners of the desert, but how they plan on fixing that situation, if and when the government in Scarbeen falls, will be the great test of the peace keeping abilities of Falsueg.

Not here are the minor nations: The Principality of Rainbridge (a city state in Nordvest kept alive by Corinth), The Protectorate of Mayayore (a small nation along the eastern coast of Southern Arrow Lake, East Gurkka, also kept alive by Corinth), and Scarbeen (which doesn't actually have control over the land it claims to own).
