Corinth At War 1

Description

1:Airfortress Superior destroys a Shirudo Aircurassier with a devastating strike to it's magazine. A Corinthian Aircorvette provides covering fire.
Go hour is set early in the Morning for Corinth's strike into Shirudo occupied Nordvest. A lucky decision for the Corinthians. They meet much of the Shirudo's shock troops while they are still in the air, and easily obliterate them as well as many of the Shirduo airships devoted to there campaign in the north.

2: A lone Shirudo Lineman looks over a field devastated covered in dead Corinthians.
On the ground, Corinth's forces are less fortunate. The attack, aimed at drawing out Shirudo forces to face two pincer movements by Corinthian militia, followed by a direct attack by Corinthian regulars into the exposed center falls apart when the Shirudo simply slaughter the militia with line breakers. They then have more than enough numbers in the center of there line to mow down the attacking regulars.

3: The battered regiments of Corinth's regular army and Militia form into new, quickly made, new, ragtag regiments.
Fortunately, without the airborne shock troops securing positions behind the Corinthian lines, a large portion of Corinth's force is able to safely retreat back into friendly territory.

The Shirudo and Corinthians now find themselves in two equally complex tactical positions:

For the Shirudo, they now face the northern winter. They are currently reaching the maximum extent of the land supply lines, and Corinthian Airships currently pose a near insurmountable obstacle. Any attacks further would need to be fast and painless, a drawn out campaign would mean suffering serious losses to illness's such as frostbite and scurvy, much less enemy bullets (and if the Corinthians are still around, they will be fighting for there lives, the worst type of enemy). But waiting until spring will mean facing a larger, much more organized force who has the advantage of being in familiar terrain.

For Corinth, they now find there army essentially cut off from reinforcement for six months. With only 5500 troops facing a better trained and armed force several times there size, they have to decide whether holding there ground is better or seceding territory to increase the forces chances of survival, with the hope they will be available to take the territory back. If they do stay, they have to pray that there airships maintain total control of the region, or else they will be flushed out by a combined Shirudo assault. Winter is only a few weeks away, and once it hits, retreating won't be an option.
