Shirudo fighters flying into combat alongside the Canmore? Blasphemy! Or something less dramatic.

Idris, our man in the centre, and the crew of the Canmore. Well, those that I could fit on the page. Kennewick's Airmarines, Diago's Imperial body guards, Hathor's Warden, they can wait for another time :P So, to put it simply, I wanted to preserve as much of Jailgurd's additions to the universe while maintaining it's original aim. As I go forward over the next few years and hopefully move towards becoming capable of handling a story of the scale I want Unus Solum to carry (my research has found that authors such as Ken Follet can take more than half a decade researching when embarking on such endeavours), I'll do his characters justice.

Idris is a journeyman. How the heck did I forget about the Journeymen all these years? Such potential for reckless adventure in them. They are effectively couriers. Most governments on Unus Solum, even the relatively democratic Arcean one, open letters and vet them. The couriers don't, allowing all kinds of illegal information to run undetected. Originally a Scarran sold into slavery by his father, he was saved by a Dahomey journeyman who raised him under her watchful eye, crafting him into a sauve, capable airship pilot and gunslinger. He's also the sole owner of a map to find the Trinity Gauntlet and a key to use it.

I've decided to change Analyzia again (I'm more inconsistent on her than I was with Laurence back in the day), making her a confident, capable and educated aeronautical engineer with no previous relationship to Kennewick (albeit, she would still have reason to like the Von Lark household for political reasons) or other members of the crew.

Kennewick hasn't changed much, I conceptually have always liked his character. Most notably, I'm starting to think he should be older, maybe in his earlier thirties, thus justifying his high ranking position.

Diago is Kennewick's Shirudo counterpart and I like them because they can act as foils of Arcean and Shirudo values. The Arcean's have always been a merchant society. They have no strict honorific codes and fight wars in the most utilitarian ways possible. The Shirudo have always been a marshal society, combat has traditions to be followed and myths to be observed. Arcean commanders, even in the earliest era's of warfare, always lead from behind, the Shirudo always have commanders leading from the front, and etc. In turn Diago and Kennewick reflect these differences. I wouldn't say either is morally superior, and they both have a startlingly efficient record by the time the story occurs.

Hathor is Diago's cousin and the eldest daughter of the Shirudo emperor. As a woman, she can't take the throne and without any countries to marry her off to, she was largely left to her own devices as a child. She became a self educated woman and began to realize her fathers blindness to the political dangers slowly surrounding him. She hopes to keep the Shirudo royal family from turning onto itself and isn't afraid to enlist outside help if her Warden isn't enough. She's also why the Canmore has a wing of Shirudo fighters at its disposal, not Diago.

Everything looks good to me, except for one thing: the guy second from the right, Diago? His head looks strange. I don't know if it's just a couple lines put in the wrong place, but his head looks elongated, like a Scarran from Farscape --> www.propstore.com/product-imag… Less ugly, for sure, but still strange.
